Recordist's notes
The weather was worse than I had anticipated, the difference between the valley floor and the flanks of the mountain pronounced: much colder, with gusting wind and a biting sleet. With only one set of footsteps on the trail ahead, with unbroken snow between me and the pylon that I wanted to record, and with my tailbone still throbbing from where I had fallen over on an iced-over bridge I knew I should turn for home but decided first to make a couple of quick recordings by tying small omni mics to the spindly branches of a small bush that poked through the snow.
