Recordist's notes

An experimental document from an over night simultaneous recording using contact and omni microphones. The single contact mic was attached to a plate of steel 0.5mm x 300mm x 300mm and laid flat on the wooden deck. The omnis were placed on a chair above the steel plate. Bread had been left for the birds on the wooden deck and the mice were extremely active last night dashing to and fro gathering the bread. Some of the lower frequency footfalls are actually over the top of the plate I believe. The contact mic was home made and connected through an adapter to alter the impedance which improves the frequency response. I am not sure this works well as a record of the place but it was worth a try. 32bit x 48khz. MixPre 6 II with 2 Sennheiser MKH 8020s and a single piezo contact "plate" microphone.
