Recordist's notes
Sounds of voices and a plane overhead from contact mics attached to wire running between the rails of a wood fence on top of a bluff overlooking the Missouri River and Labadie Energy Center in Klondike Park. Klondike Park is at the site of the former Klondike Sandstone Quarry, which was founded in 1898 and closed in 1983. Sandstone was crushed on site and then shipped by railroad to be used in the manufacture of glass. The Lewis and Clark Expedition passed by here in 1804. Labadie Energy Center is a coal-fired power plant that emits 15,508,284 metric tons of carbon dioxide a year and a constant drone that can be heard in the park 1.3 miles away from the plant.
