Recordist's notes

Recording of wind blowing through the trees and an airplane overhead followed by the mighty Wabash, Frisco and Pacific steam train. The Wabash, Frisco and Pacific Railroad operates steam locomotives on about a mile of 12 gauge track in the woods next to the Meramec River. It gives rides to small children and their parents who sit on the top of miniature train cars Sunday afternoons May to October (weather permitting). The railroad is closed for this season but this day the train was apparently taking out a group of teenage boys to help on track maintenance. They sat huddled on top of the last car. As they passed and just before disappearing back into the woods someone is heard asking, “You ok?” Immediately after this a projectile is detected striking the ground (0:37). Train whistle sounds at 0:57.
