FRAPPANT vs. IKEA - Furniture Store- Hamburg Moorfleet, WC, patent key#1

Official plans of future urban development in Hamburg aim to restructure the Große Bergstrasse in Hamburg-Altona. One aspect of the plan is the construction of a large inner city store by the IKEA corporation on the site of the former department store "Frappant", actually used as studios and music venues by artists. There is a public controversy on this gentrification policy (http://keinikeainaltona.de). During the Workshop "Listening to the City" (www.fsk-hh.org/kolleg) the two sites – Frappant in Altona and the IKEA store in Hamburg-Moorfleet – were acoustically mapped. You find the sounds of the Ikea furniture store layered on the map of the Frappant building, next to sounds of the existing space.
