The miniature locomotive running on the Romney Hythe and Dymchurch Railway line

As children we often travelled on the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway. It had everything my dad loved about a family outing; bleak marshy landscapes; a nuclear power station on the horizon; the sea; an old lighthouse; and a miniature steam train. In this recording you can hear the train just chuffing along the tracks rather distantly from where Mark and I were stood a few weekends back - alas, the beauteous mournful TOOTS of the train echoing against the amazing towers of the nuclear power station eluded me. Everytime the train went TOOT my recorder was in my pocket, and long stints of standing and waiting for the train never yielded a single sound. But here it is, chuffing along the tracks in the bleakest and most wondrous atmosphere of Dungeness.
