Recordist's notes
S-Bahn station Berlin Wedding. At noon. Many people come out of the subway, drive up the escalator in a glass-roofed room to the S-Bahn, others go down the steps next to it to the subway. In between is the busy Müllerstraße. All the sounds come from this escalator. I walk around and take the stairs. Most people react unmoved to the sounds as if it were everyday life in Berlin. Three hours later, the escalator is noiselessly rhythmic again. S-Bahn Station Berlin Wedding. Mittags.
