Recordist's notes
The Eiche Solar Farm (start date 2011) - covering 73 hectacres on the edge of Berlin - exemplifies one of the issues in the current debate about renewable energy. It takes up a lot of land. Are there other, additional, ways this could be used. A solution tried here is to graze sheep on the grass growing between and under the panels. Apart from frequent airplanes and the wind they are the only sound here. The solar panels themselves are silent. This was recorded on a beautiful day in warm sunshine. The field arounds were green with crops and totally open. Birds can occasionally be heard singing from far distant trees.
