Recordist's notes
Sound recorded next to the island Sveti Stefan, a former village of fisherman, and now a luxury hotel. The Yugoslav government converted it into a luxury hotel and moved the remaining inhabitants to the mainland. One of the four churches belonging to Praskvica Monastery on Sveti Stefan was turned into a casino by the government. The resort was visited by many celebrities, including Orson Welles, Elizabeth Taylor, Sophia Loren, Marilyn Monroe, Princess Margaret, Carlo Ponti, Ingemar Stenmark, and Kirk Douglas. Today, one overnight is around 1.500 euros. The island, the beach and the pont are private. You can go have a round on the island, but you need to pay 25 euros to enter. Maybe you can hear the bass of the music coming from Budva, driven by the sea.
About the place
Budva is a town of about 18,000 people in Budva, Montenegro.
