Recordist's notes

Schöneberger Südgelände is located on the former Tempelhof railway yard. Since it's closure nature has reclaimed the area. Rusty tracks still run through it and preserved trains and rail infrastructure are part of the now wooded landscape. Because of its industrial past it has a totally unique ecology unlike anywhere else in Berlin (300 moss species are found there). It lies between today's SBahn and the current main line south from the city, so trains at full power, or slowly passing by, are dominant events in the soundscape. These recordings are taken from a 24hr stream set up in late November. This one is at night during light rain. The microphones are hidden under fallen leaves onto which the rain drops. it is windless.
