Recordist's notes
This is a part of the Hawick Common Riding Festival in which a giant horse procession around the town takes place. In Hawick, they take horse poo very seriously indeed, and in fact immediately after the horses have passed, a massive sweeping machine enters the town to tidy away all the dung IMMEDIATELY. You might be able to hear this towards the end of the recording; more information for the context of the Hawick Common Riding can be found here: http://www.hawickcommonriding.com/about.html Recorded with Naiant X-X microphones and Fostex FR-2LE, microphones held at around horse ankle level, about 5m away from the actual horses.
Context
This recording was made away from larger towns, about 53 km from the nearest city in our gazetteer.
