Recordist's notes

This spot is beside one of the public footpaths that runs through Chediston Hall farm. The path lies close to farm buildings (and the original Hall), some of which house an intensive pig unit. The animals are in sheds so not visible, but they can often be heard grunting, banging around or more loudly screeching as one passes by. This is one of my regular walks and the sounds can be quite disturbing at times. A strongly smelling slurry pit is nearby, so the atmosphere and feel of this place can be weird and edgy, even unpleasant. In contrast, the rest of the path is pretty nice. Trees hide the pig sheds from view, but unexpectedly, this small patch of woodland seems to attract more wildlife, mostly birds, than any of the others in the area. I've no explanation why. Together all these elements create a rather interesting sonic place. In April 2025 an audio stream box was set up for a day and a half. These tracks are extracts from an eventful 24hr period.
