Recordist's notes
On January 26, 2025, a massive demonstration took place in Greece, echoing once again the collective rage for the Tempi train disaster, which claimed 57 lives in February 2023. The phrase "Δεν έχω οξυγόνο" (I can't breathe) became one of the central cries in the streets — a voice for those lost and for those still fighting to breathe in a country where human life is treated as collateral damage. This was not an accident — it was a state and corporate crime. Years of privatization, neglect, and deliberate dismantling of public infrastructure led to the deaths of 57 people, most of them young. And until today, no real justice has been served. This sound piece captures fragments of that protest — voices, footsteps, chants — moments from a collective body moving through the city, refusing to let silence win.
