Recordist's notes

This recording was collected inside an ice filled lava tube(ice cave) in the Double Hole Crater lava flow. During the winter months cold air collects inside the lava tube and, because it has no way to escape, it remains throughout the year. As water seeps in from above it freezes inside the cold air filled lava tube. This was recorded in the spring and snowmelt and rainwater were percolating through the lava and dripping from the lava tube ceiling onto the solid ice floor. This was recorded with a Wildtronics SAAM microphone onto a Zoom F6 recorder.
