Recordist's notes

Recorded from the stream. A tram moans in the valley below. Wind gust rustle the dry leaves and traffic noise grows. A longer close train rumbles and rattles past. It’s bass frequencies are quite heavy. Robins and great tits continue to sing and woodpeckers (probably great spotted woodpeckers) have started drumming on two different trees – higher and lower pitched. At dawn most birds sing but there is an order to when each species starts. Woodpeckers seem to be later than others. Listening over time this woodland has a reasonable diversity of birds. But the constant traffic creates a sonic fog that makes them difficult to hear. I wonder if this effects how they hear each other.
