Recordist's notes
We are gathered around the living room table in the old School of Weetfeld village, a historic building, and home to Rudi Franke-Herold and his family for over 30 years. Together with Stefan Reus, they are founding members of the “Citizen Association Against the Destruction of the Weetfeld Environment”. For almost 15 years, they have been a driving force of local environment activism. Rudi begins by describing the rural landscape around us, an ancient agricultural area. Archeological excavations document settlements from 600 BC. In 1999, Stefan and his wife Petra learnt about local government plans for a 260 ha large Industrial area, the “Inlogparc”, which would cover most of the Weetfeld countryside. With a door-to-door campaign, they informed their neighbours.
