Recordist's notes

That day I was in Budapest with the theater group I used work with. We were invited to put on a play in the National Theater. As I was strolling throught streets of Budapest I was expecting to see the signs of solidarity with the Ukrainians as they were recently attacked by the Russians. We, the people of Eastern Europe nations, were directly affected by the violence of Russian Peace and I am not talking about historical affairs but events still remembered by living people. On my sound bag I had blue and yellow ribbons, but all I saw in the Budapest in 2022 were Russian colors, black and orange ribbon of Saint George and patches of Russian military organization Wagner Group. I was shocked. I went to Liberty Bridge as it was made of metal and I wanted to try my home made contact mic and DIY geophone. I placed the mics. As I used red cables it looked like I was trying to plant a bomb, so that's what I thought. Fortunately no police stopped me. Day was cold and misty. No people were strolling. Only a bald, middle aged man in military boots and motorcycle leather jacket with sewn-on patch of Wagner Group passed me on the bridge. On the evening of our performence we were asked by the staff of the National Theatre not to show any sings of solidarity with Ukrainian nation as the officials from Hungarian government were invited to see the play. We refused and at the end of play we displayed Ukrainian flags. Equipment: MixPre-6 mk1, 1 DIY contact mic, 1 DIY geophone Recordist: Maciej Wirmański, maciejwirmanski.pl
