Recordist's notes

Ambient recording at this location using a Zoom h5 and a matched pair of Clippy EM272 high sensitivity omni-directional low noise microphone's. Recording is 52 mins long. The intention was to capture the sound of the church bell which rings a number of times in the hour in different patterns of call and response between two bells. In fact I discovered it rings at odd times. There are three bells; at 9min 43 sec, 27 mins 20 sec and 42 mins 20 sec. Since I left the recorder unattended and un-monitored for the duration I inadvertently picked up the sound of the neighbours arguing, but hey - this is authentic Ischia! There is a moment where the neighbours rising voices add to a swell in the wind and noise of approaching motorbikes that gets quite tense. Other things of note are the fact that sounds in the environment seem to fade away and loop back again a few times before fading into the distance. This is particularly noticeable with the sound of the siren of an ambulance passing. This is due to the small windy mountain roads that loop back on themselves as they descend the terraces of the terrain.
